Professional Project Review Over "Baby"

The video I chose to review was one of Justin Bieber's first music videos, called "Baby". This video featured Justin at a bowling alley including shots so the audience can follow the story and extra shots of him singing to the camera, which were compiled together along with the music. The most commonly used shots in the video were mid shots and wide shots. The wide shots were mostly of Justin's entire body while he sang to the camera on a street. when the video transitioned, mid shots were used to show his facial expressions as well as some body language to help tell the story.

The story being told was about Justin's attempt to win over a girl that has been trying to break off her relationship with him. In the beginning, she wants nothing to do with him, but as he keeps dancing and singing to her, she ends up finally falling in love with him. It was told through a montage of the story with some dancing scenes and shots of Justin singing to the camera.

I would apply the technique of using a wide variety of shots and scenes to keep viewers interested to my own videos, because they do it very well in this video. I have learned about placing just a few extra wide shots in a video to make it seem more intimate and close up, like you're in the same room as the video while viewing it. The creator did a nice job capturing Justin's emotions throughout the video to really help depict the story. The could improve on cropping the wide shots in the video so that Justin's feet were not cut off. Overall, this was a well made music video that used a wide variety of shots and depicted its story well.
